Something we'll be thinking about on Sunday.
From the Sermon on the Law in the Sermon on the Mount. This target can help us understand grace. Christ gives us many targets to aim for - faithfulness in relationships, do not murder, do not lie. If we see ourselves in the centre, it's easy to look down and judge others. This is the position of the Pharisees. But Jesus showed us that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God! Only Christ is perfect - in the bullseye!
We're all scattered around the target having missed the mark [sinned]. When we understand ourself as the green arrow, we can throw away all pretence. A forgiven sinner who can embrace those around them as we all aim towards Christ, the author and perfecto of our faith! What a welcoming church that will be. Aiming Christward, but embracing all who understand their sainted sinner position.
Our resident Historian Margaret Henry has done a wonderful job producing a FIVE volume collections of 'selected readings' from past church Council [etc] meetings covering the era 1977 [Church Union] to the building of our current building [1990]. It is fascinating reading!
You can find them all here.

Here's a prayer we're going to talk about over the coming weeks. Imagine if everyone in the church prayed this prayer each morning, and lived this life! Imagine what we would become!
We've got some great partnerships with the community. Here's what one with the Peninsula Camera Club can mean! Check out their video work...
Last Sunday we were encouraged to define our life by the words of God about the Word of God! Don't know where to start? Here are some ideas...
- Subscribe to a 'Daily Devotional' like the Word for Today. OId copies are in the foyer to get your started, or sign up here free! https://vision.org.au/the-word-for-today/
- Download the "youversion" Bible App to your phone [free]. It has various reading programs with challenges, etc, to keep you motivated. You can even listen rather than read.
- Grab a Bible and simply read one chapter each morning/night. Start at the New Testament - Matthew.
- Join a Bible study group. Talk to Paddi if you are interested.
- If you've never really read the Bible at all - start with a Children's Bible - it will give you an overview of the whole story quickly, then you can read an adult bible.
Take a look at the amazing work our RUCF fund has done in 2018!
Hey, here is something to get you thinking - explained during Sunday's sermon! If you want to delve deeper into Jonathon Haidt's work, watch the video.
Recently the Greens once again moved a motion to remove the Lord's prayer from the beginning of the parliamentary day. A senate committee was set up to investigate it, and public submissions were called for. 800+ were made, and our Minister sent one in. His submission was referenced in the final report of the senate committee. The senate committee reported there was no momentum for change.
You can read the final report HERE, and Paul's submission below the image.
